And then Christmas was over…

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

…and I had to go back home from home, which always makes me a miserable mess of sulkiness for 3-4 days at least. It’s not that I don’t want to be here in Trondheim with Tor, I love it here, and I love him, it’s just that I want to be home too. Because really, one week every year just isn’t enough AT ALL. So for 2006, my New Year’s resolution is to make more of an effort to get to go home and see my family more. I’m starting with Easter. Hopefully my new job will allow me to work extra some days to gain 1-2 days of freetime, so that I can take a longer Easter vacation and go home.

So… My Christmas was absolutely amazing, as always. I haven’t done anything special, but that’s what makes being home so great - I can do nothing all day and love every second of it, just because it’s HOME.
And of course, my mom. My mom is the best mom there ever was and ever will be, I swear. <3 <3 <3

Leaving again was hard, as always. I hate leaving, it breaks me every time.

I really need to at least try and get out of this sad groove I’m currently in. So I’m going to remind myself that now that I’ve taught my dad at least how to call me on Skype, I can talk to them as much as I want without any of us having to worry about the cost. I also have nice pictures (allthough none of my dad, for some reason. ), so I can always look at those.
Tor got me a new digital camera for Christmas, yay, so the pictures have a more decent quality than they used to.
So that’s one of the things I got… I also got clothes, gift certificates, money, an iPod shuffle dock, movies (Grease and Chicago), a book (P.S. I love you), underwear, a bracelet, a glass penguin with a tiny penguin in its tummy , scissors, a hand-embroidered pretty tablecloth, aaand…that’s it, I think. I probably forgot something, but eh.
I used the money yesterday to get myself a new winter coat. I finally found one I liked. :D My mom had found me a really nice one at Sortland, but they didn’t have my size. :/ But, I found one that closely resembled it here, and it was marked down 50%, so woot. :hero: New coat for me, finally. My old one never regained its former splendour after I had it dry-cleaned.

Not so miserable now, but it’s bound to return later. I wish I could at least have spent New Year’s at home, but flight prices were too high right after, so bleh. :( As it is, I can travel to and from London 5 times for the price of ONE roundtrip home. It’s just not right.

Honeys, I’m home!

Hurray! :hero:
Actually, I came here tuesday afternoon, but I couldn’t be bothered blogging before now. Strange computer and all that. And I kinda didn’t remember my WP password, so I had to reset that. <.<

The trip here was painfully boring. First of all, I had to get up at 5 am to get ready to go to the airport. We left home at 5:45, arrived at the airport at 6:15. I got checked in, after one of those automatic check-in machines first refused to give me my boarding passes and luggage tags. Gahhh, silly machines.

The flight from Trondheim to Bodø was ok. We weren’t much delayed, which is amazing, as Norway has a severe shortage of air traffic controllers, due to some…stuff that I won’t bother going into here, cause no one would bother reading it. :pirate:
Arrived in Bodø at about 8:10 am, and ran to the ticket desk to ask if I could change my flight out to Stokmarknes to an earlier one. Alas, no luck. They had free seats, but I had an economy ticket, so no changing anything, missy.
So I had to wait. I met up with Magda, a friend of mine from both back home and Trondheim, but she had an early flight, lucky girl. I did some reading, eating, sleeping and walking, and finally 7.5 hours had passed, and it was time to board the plane. We were only about 10 minutes late taking off from Bodø, and I arrived at Stokmarknes around 4 pm. My mom picked me up, and all was well.

We went shopping both wednesday and thursday, and I also got to visit my grandfather (my dad’s dad). He’s a stubborn old man and won’t spend Christmas with us, but at least we got the news today that one of the local retirement center places had an opening for him during Christmas, so he won’t just have to be all alone. :)

So that’s about it… All Christmas gifts are bought and wrapped, we’re decorating the tree later tonight, I miss Tor a lot, and the dog is crazy in love with me because I’m new and exciting and I scratch her behind the ears a lot.

Happy Holidays!

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

This is probably the last post from me in about a week or so, unless I should decide to try and remember my password to update from home. ;) Don’t count on it though, computer time there is bound to be limited, which is just as well.

So yep, going home tomorrow. My flight leaves at 7 am (eek), meaning I have to check in at 6:15 am (EEK). I then get to spend one hour on the plane to Bodø, then 7-8 hours or so at the terminal in Bodø, then another 45 minutes on the plane to get to the airport closest to home. Yay. I’m arming myself with gingerbread cookies, chocolate muffins, clementines, candy and The Two Towers. And my VoldiePod, of course. VoldiePod is fashionably dressed in a yellow and orange podsock these days. He loves it.

Ok. Left to do before I can safely go to bed: Finish packing. Get gifts from Tor to pack. Wash my hair and dry it (I actually bought a blowdrier yesterday, first one I’ve had in years). Bake muffins. Shine my shoes. And that’s it I think. I THINK. <.<

Cats rule, dogs drool

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

However, my cat also drools.
Link has this habit of always following me to the bathroom whenever I go there. Yes, WHENEVER. I can’t pee alone anymore, he’s always there, watching me. So this morning was of course no different. He followed me in there, and curled up at my feet while I, err, did my business. So. Imagine you’re on the toilet, and you suddenly feel something wet on your toes. You’d be a bit worried, wouldn’t you? I kinda was. Turned out, however, that it was just cat drool. I’m saying ‘just’ because well, consider the options. Or don’t.
Bottom line is; he drools. He drooled a little bit on the floor too, little drops of cat drool all over. Excellent. Like his fur wasn’t enough, he now also drops saliva around the house. <.<

I forgot to mention in the previous post, but I did some other kinds of updating too. First and foremost, I added affliate links to the sidebar, and sister links to the links page. I also enabled commenting on a couple of subpages, mainly the Goblet of Fire review and the Hogwarts robes page. :hero:
I’m also considering implementing tags (like Livejournal has). Not sure yet.

O winged crown and throne of gold

New layout, in case you didn’t notice. :) If it looks horribly odd to you for no good reason at all, please proceed to refresh the page madly until it shows up good. Thank you.
There are probably a few small things to fix still, but it’s good for now. So, as always, tell me what you think. :pirate:

Work is good. I have two more days until my mini-holiday to Kiel, then two more after that before I go home for the holidays. I can’t wait. :D I’ve got pretty much all my Christmas gifts under control. Hopefully the taxfree shop won’t let me down… <.<

I’m new!

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

I feel very new, at least. I had my hair cut yesterday and it still feels really strange to have it like this…such a big change for what I’ve had done with it the last few years. I love it though, it’s nice.

Pictures, of course!

So there you go, the new me. :) It was kinda scary when she cut off the looong fringe I had. It used to reach down to my chin, and suddenly it was above the eyes. Eep.

Today, we’re making marzipan treats. I allready bought the marzipan ready-made, foodcolour (red and green) and dark chocolate to melt and drip over them/dip them in. Maybe we’ll decorate the gingerbread cookies too, now that we can get different colour frosting on them. Hopefully we’ll do some decorating too, but that’s a long shot.

The Christmas party

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

I’m lazy, so I’ll just more or less copy-paste what I just LJed.

From the Manpower Christmas party 2005, hurray. It was ok. I met up with Vibeke from work an hour ahead of time, so that we could calm our nerves and go together. So we went, registered, got some champagne, listened to some jokes, talked to some people, then sat down to eat. It took forever for us to get our food, cause we were at the end of the table, and all the plates of food just seemed to empty just before they reached us. o.O
Then we got cake and BAILEY’S IRISH CREAM, YUM YUM. Then my left bra strap broke off (I wore those “invisible” ones, and they just kinda hook onto the bra instead of the usual white straps - it was the hook in the back that broke, stupid cheap plastic), which kinda sucked, cause then I just had to remove it alltogther, which made me feel kinda odd cause…because. Bra straps are there for a reason, you know.
Then the band started playing and they played HOTEL CALIFORNIA. And LET IT BE! Rarrr. And and… PROUD MARY. Good times. Then they moved on to horrible Swedish swing music, and after enduring an hour of this while trying to avoid the gazes of single men looking to dance with pretty girls, we decided to just go home. So we did, and here I am.
And. I bring pictures. :D

Also dyed my hair again yesterday, supposedly it is now “pure ruby power”. Having it cut tomorrow, eep.

I look somewhat drunk in this one, but it’s the flash, I swear.

Strike a pose!&”% My shoes look really odd. They’re actually really cool, stiletto-heeled strappy shoes. I’ve had them for a year and then some, and I’m only now mastering to walk normally in them, haha. Next challenge: Master dancing in them. Eep.

Speaking of dancing - I kinda wanted to dance tonight, but as I don’t know how to, I decided to skip it. Must learn how to dance.
Anyway, back to the point. I asked Tor if he’d dance with me on the cruise to Kiel, and he said no, which I of course interpret as YES I WILL, MY DEAR. So we’ll be dancing. Maybe. At least after a few drinks.

Oh, and the pants are actually pinstriped, not plain black. Important fact. Pinstriped pants > Black pants.
