Exhale.

We had our meeting with the bank today, regarding our complaint that they hadn’t given us the proper guidance before we signed the papers to take up a loan to buy that house you’ve heard me yammering on about for the last month (wow - it’s really been a month since we found out that it would ruin us!).

They’re not in agreement. The way they see it, they’ve done their part as far as giving us guidance and counsel. Ok. I should probably have argued with them right then and there, but I just couldn’t, because I knew I’d start crying before I’d finished the first word in my argument.

They were actually being really nice about it, and told us that we’re not the only ones in this situation. Then they talked a bit about what has led the Norwegian banks to up the interest rates the way they have, the primary reason being the subprime crisis in the US. I am so glad that I’ve taken the time to read up on that, because it enabled me to actually understand what they were talking about.

They told us that they’d do everything they could so that we would be able to live with this loan up to a point where we can sell the house and NOT lose money over it - if we were to sell today, or next month, we would probably have to face a loss of about NOK 100 000 (USD 20 000), but if we wait it out a while we might actually get back what we paid for it. Or technically, what we are going to pay for it. In a month. A MONTH. We’re moving in a month. Crazy.

So - we’ve been promised their lowest interest rate, and no fees to establish the loan, plus they’ll help us set up a decent budget. So it might work out. It might.

    Aww. Hope everything works out for ya!

    Fant akkurat ut at alle miniprisbillettan til NSB va solgt ut. På EI FØKKINGS UKE, så det ser ut til at det blir nattbuss på mæ, med mindre æ får sponsa litt av mamma. Ouch…

    Ikkje sånn kjempemange flere timan enn med tog, men betydelig mindre komfortabelt. Og så må æ jo uansett toge til Oslo for å ta bussen, så det hadde vært veldi digg å slippe å veksle så mellom transportan. I tillegg e det skikkeli dårli timing ifht returen, må vente mangemange tiiima og ta nattog til Bø, med mindre æ drar rett fra bryllupsfesten til nattbuss igjen… Og da e det litt kjipt å bruke såpass masse penga, om æ ikje får vært LITT der engang…
