His laziness has returned from Renate S on Vimeo.
He just didn’t have much to tell you. Sorry.
His laziness has returned from Renate S on Vimeo.
He just didn’t have much to tell you. Sorry.
I had a dream, just before I woke up this morning. In my dream I had just woken up, and I was walking into the kitchen, where I saw both cats sitting in their usual spots, eating.
Then I woke up.
I walked into the kitchen, and opened the window to let Moppe in. Then I closed the window and turned my back to it. Seconds later, I heard a cry outside, and even though I was pretty sure it would just be kids screaming, I turned around, and there he was. Link, sitting there just outside the window, wanting to come in.
He’s been gone for nigh on two weeks until his return today, and he looks a mess. All of his white fur is grey, he’s thin and scrawny and very jumpy. His fur is filthy and kind of sticky to touch, and he smells of, I don’t know - sand, must, dirt in general. But he’s here, and he’s ok.
Step 1: Turn kittylitter around so that the door faces the wall, thus making it impossible for the cat to get in there.
Step 2: Whenever cat approaches kittylitter and meows, open window and throw cat outside.
Step 3: Wait.
We’re still on step 3, mind you, so how this will work, no one knows for sure. What I do know for sure is that I’m sick and tired of our hallway smelling like a kitty loo, no matter how often we clean it. The smell is IN the plastic now, and it stinks out the entire hallway (plus other rooms if we keep the doors open). Grr. So Link is now (un)happily outside.
It might sound harsh and all, but you know what? If it works, it’ll be worth it. Moppe learned outdoors pooping the hard way, Link can do it as well.
So, the exam… Since you asked, Lotta, I’ll just explain what it’s all about: British and American culture. Here’s what the department website says about its academic content:
The course will provide an up-to-date overview of the geography, population, minorities, politics and government, foreign policy and international connections, legislation, economy, social services, educational system and mass media in Great Britain and the United States, presented in a historical and critical context.
Sounds intriguing, no? It’s actually quite interesting, some of it. Also, reading the news from the US and the UK now makes me feel all clever because I understand what the issues are all about. Eeeexcellent. *rubs hands together*
Today: Sleep-in, followed by dinner and cake at Tor’s mom’s place, because it’s his brother’s 22nd birthday.
Hedda (in case I don’t catch you on MSN): Tomorrow or tuesday would be great, as we’re having a farewell-dinner for a co-worker on wednesday. I’ll doublecheck with Tor and get back to you in due time. :)
New obsession: Veronica Mars. I actually bought the first season DVDs, so I’ve got it that bad. If you know me, you’ll also know that I don’t often spend money on stuff like that, cause I’m a regular Scrooge. I’m sort of getting over my Scrooge-y tendencies now though.
So… I got the DVDs on tuesday and finished watching all the episodes tonight. I’m now desperate for TVN to start showing season 2. DESPERATE!! I’d pre-order the DVDs if I could, but I’d have to pre-order from abroad, which would cause them to get a bit too expensive for my liking, what with the customs and all.
Anyway… I guess part of why I like it is because I can relate to it. Even though I went to a small elementary/junior high school, I had my share of cool, dorky, weirdo and just-plain-not-cool crowds. I like to think that I was somewhat cool when I first started elementary school. At least everyone were nice to me. But that quickly changed… When I started fourth grade, a new girl moved to town, and I was quickly moved from cool to social pariah. Ah yes, so many memories that I won’t share, because I’m sort of trying to forget a lot of what happened. I never quite regained my cool either. I’ve got these bitter memories from confirmation camp and high school as well. Bygones, bygones. Sort of, but not really. Had I not been in a steady relationship, I probably would end up a bitter old cat-lady. Of course, there’s still plenty of time for that to happen, but I’ll try my best not to let it.
Bottom line is that I really enjoy watching Veronica Mars.
HÃ¥kon, about the house-building… We sort of HAVE to take one of the Systemhus houses, or we’ll have to pay a lot more… So, sorry. :(
So, next week will be hectic for me. First off, it’s my turn to do the coffee making at work, so I obviously need to figure out how that works. You might think that making coffee is something everyone would know how to do, but I haven’t done it since I was little and used to serve my parents coffee in bed. As I don’t drink coffee myself, I have no idea how to make it so that people will actually want to drink it.
Then wednesday, there’s a seminar and a farewell-dinner, followed by helping Hedda move her stuff to her new apartment. Thursday and Friday I have study-leave from work, the weekend will probably also be spent reading, as well as Monday… Then the exam is Tuesday, EEEK. I think my best bet is to know a little about everything, but also a lot about one or two things. I’m guessing the legal system(s) might come up, and perhaps federalism and womens’ rights. *hyperventilate* Must…know…everything.
Lately, Link’s been making a lot of noise. It’s like he just learned how to meow, and now he’s got his heart set on using his ability to the fullest in case he loses it again. He’ll sit on the window sill behind me as I watch TV, and just…meow. For no good reason at all. If I shush him or make any sign at all that I heard him, he’ll go on meowing even more. If I don’t answer him, he’ll just meow some more or perhaps attack my head.
Now, a quick shower before I’m off to bed.
Allthough you might think I’m talking about the ice-cream van (I WISH), I’m actually just talking about the new layout. I feel a bit like a cheat for using a theme someone else made, but hey, at least I edited the header, you know? Yes indeed, it was me who put on those leaves and that chicken. I didn’t really mean to put the chicken on there, I had it on a different layer before adding the foliage, but then I realized that it was just too cute to leave out.
I also redid some pages. Added some, deleted some, changed some. I also added categories, and the archives should actually be working now. It all just came together last night. Like magic, yo.
I tried taking Link outside for a bit to enjoy the nice weather. It wasn’t very enjoyable. I, for one, did not enjoy the sound of his claws scraping against the tarmac as I tried to get him to walk with me.
We’re not really sure what to do… We might try putting him on a leash in the backyard, to let him be outside for a bit without risking him running away to hide in someone’s basement again. It might sound cruel, but I think it’s rather cruel to keep him indoors in an apartment as well. Honestly, if I’d known it would be this much trouble to get him to go outside, I don’t think I would’ve agreed to getting another cat. I’ve never had this much trouble getting a cat to go outside, at least not in summer.
Ok, I’m all shaky from lack of food now, so I should go take care of that.
Link has taken to sleeping in the bathroom sink. He has a nice fluffy blanket, a house and a basket with a nice thick blanket in it, not to mention a whole lot of floor space, and yet he chooses the bathroom sink. Whenever I use the toilet, he’s there, in the sink, looking at me. Just now he even went to lay down in the sink while the water was running, and he gave me that look that said, plain as day: Yes, I know the water is running down my back. Did you expect me to care?
I actually think he’s somewhat water repellant.

These are examples of pictures I pull up to look at whenever he’s done something that makes me regret us ever picking him up. It makes it all better.
…I do need to update. Cause we found him. :D Day before yesterday, actually - I just forgot to blog it, cause I LJed it.
We went out to look for him, and I noticed that the door to #1 (we live in #5) was open AGAIN, and the door to their basement was open as well. So I went and rang the first door and asked if we could go check out their basement, which was ok with the guy I talked to (honestly, if they leave the doors open, it’s not like they care who goes in there anyway, but I thought I’d be polite and ask), and there he was. :D Scared and dusty, but just fine otherwise.
In other news, I finally got the pictures of our apartment up. Just 1 1/2 years after we moved in, hah. I got a bit paranoid though and decided to put a password on the page, so if you want to see them, e-mail me. :) It’s not that I mind people seeing them, obviously, I’d just like to know who does see them. Because I’m weird like that. <.<
I also went and created a profile on MySpace, which you can see here. People (meaning Hanna) seem to get really hooked on it, so I’m waiting to see if it’ll happen to me too. ;)
