This is not the update you are looking for

Sorry. Not ready to write the wedding blog entry just yet - but it’s coming! I need to gather more photos, resize and upload to Flickr first. Because what would a wedding entry be without photos?

Suffice it to say that the day was all it was meant to be, although long and tiring. Also, my silver shoes are the work of the devil himself and should be banished. I tried leaving them under the dinner table, but someone brought them back home. Maybe I could hire someone to break them in for me.
The dress fit perfectly. The combination of working out and cutting down on fat and sugar apparently worked for me (no, no diet pills for me).

Our living room now overfloweth with wedding gifts. We’re keeping everything packed in its boxes and such since we’re moving away so soon. SO SOON.

The absence of nervousness makes me nervous

In less than 15 hours I will be walking down the aisle to get married. Actually, in 15 hours I will have reached the altar and, hopefully, sat down without making too much of a mess of my dress.

Tonight we’ve made the bridal bouquet, the place cards, the placement map, the table decorations, the corsages. We’ve set aside flowers for Bre in case the preacher allows her to enter the church behind me, instead of half an hour before me (!). I’m so glad my mom is here, and that Bre is being so nice and helpful.

I wish we’d be able to go on a honeymoon right away after the wedding. I’d love to go somewhere nice and warm and carefree. I was looking at Hilton Head rentals, and it looks so nice there. But, alas, it will have to wait.

I’m not really nervous. The little nervousness is still mostly about tripping over my dress, or accidentally setting it on fire. Or forgetting what I am supposed to do and when. Which reminds me, I need to make sure I know the Lord’s Prayer properly… I always mix up the sequence of the sentences.

I also forgot to buy new underwear. Yeah. If I don’t find anything nice tomorrow, I will most likely get married wearing panties with skeletons and ghosts on them. Not that anyone will know (except, of course, everyone who reads this…), but still.

Ok. Bed. I have to get up at 7 tomorrow morning to shower and make sure everything is where it is supposed to be.

The ring of fire

The last couple of days have been busy, but then again not. I know that makes no sense, but that’s what it feels like…

Sunday, we went and picked up Bre at the airport. Yay! I’ve mostly been hanging out with her since then, save during the night (obviously) and some hours during the day when I’ve been doing other stuff. Bre is awesome, and when she just gets back to Australia from Canada, I’m going to have to look up good flight deals to go see her there.

Other stuff, like… Going to the hairdresser’s for a mock-up of my hair and makeup for the wedding. My hair is still curly, something I thought would be impossible to ever pull off. The price to get this done is horrendous, but seriously, the result makes it worth it. Almost. My mum is going to haggle the price.

Today we went to talk to the preacher, and we did a trial run of the wedding ceremony. I will probably have nightmares about tripping over the train of my dress. Or maybe even worse, the train of my dress catching fire as we walk by the candle-filled altar on the floor on our way up to the main altar. Please keep your fingers crossed and your fire extinguishers at the ready.

Frontier(s) - what are your boundaries?

I am a big fan of horror movies, and it just came to my attention that a new one is about to hit (select) theatres on May 9th and DVD on May 13th. The movie, Frontier(s), is French and is said to be the French answer to Hostel and Saw - that should give you a good idea of what kind of horror movie this is. No, it won’t be dealing with ghosts and other supernatural beings and happenings. We’re talking blood and gore, and lots of it. The unrated version of the movie will run in theatres, which is quite rare - usually unrated versions are released strictly on DVD. It should be interesting to see what rating they will give it here in Norway - 18 (years) is the highest, but is hardly ever used.

Where did time go!?

Ok, so, what feels like yesterday for me, I said to Tor “let’s get married. IN MAY NEXT YEAR.” And then it was today, and we are getting married in a week.

Wow.

Bre arrived in the country today, which in itself is pretty darn awesome - she’s coming all the way from Australia to be at my wedding!

My family is arriving late Tuesday, by train, and are staying at our apartment for the night - the hotel they’re booked in at closes their reception at 22, so if you arrive any later than that, you have to go to the gas station across the road to get your key. I love that. However, they opted to just stay the night here instead - saves them some money as well. Does not save us any money, as tomorrow we will have to drop by Ikea to buy more pillows and duvets. And as most of you may know, however much you know JUST what to get at Ikea, you always walk out of there with something more.

Leaving work today was strange. There were the usual “happy weekend” greetings, but I also got a whole lot of “good luck”s and “next time we see you you are married!”s. Not to mention all the “nervous yet?”s. That being said, I am not really nervous, per se.

I’m just now remembering that I was supposed to compile a playlist for the wedding reception/dinner/coffee/whatever. So far? 17 tracks. Someone, please help me. If you know a good, suitable song that should be on the soundtrack of my wedding (minus the church, they do only hymns and everything has to be played by the organist - no CDs allowed), let me know!

Fool’s Gold

Fool's Gold

Title: Fool’s Gold
Tagline: This February true love takes a dive.
Genre: Adventure / Comedy
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, Donald Sutherland
IMDB: Fool’s Gold (2008)
Rating: 3 stars

It’s no secret that I am a sucker for the combination McConaughey/Hudson. After seeing How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days I fell completely in love with the pair. However, not knowing anything about this movie at all, I went into the movie with no expectations at all.

I came out feeling good. This is a feel-good movie - it provides light, easy and unpretentious entertainment, just the way I like it. Save your social commentary for someone else, movie makers. I’m in it for the cheap thrills. And for Matthew McConaughey’s bare chest. As I predicted, his shirt was off for most of the time. Kate Hudson was also her usual gorgeous self, making me feel bad for not going to the gym these past few weeks.

The movie, in short, is about treasure hunting in the Caribbean sea. McConaughey plays the head treasure seeker, Finn, while Hudson plays his disgruntled (ex-)wife Tess, who eventually hooks up with him yet again to go on a hunt for the presumed lost treasure of the Spanish royal family, the Queen’s Dowry. The two team up with millionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Sutherland) and his airhead of a daughter, Gemma (Alexis Dziena). As is to be expected, they are of course not alone in seeking this treasure.

If you’ve previously enjoyed movies such as Sahara, National Treasure and Indiana Jones, then I suggest checking out Fool’s Gold. If you’re after a bit of lighthearted fun with a dash of romance on the side, you won’t be disappointed!
